Opico/ Sky Agriculture
Since being founded in 1966, OPICO has become known as a company for innovation. This is very evident in the range today with many of the products being the first of their type in the UK. The company philosophy has always been to find something clever, different and beneficial to the farmer in the products that they sell.
OPICO have introduced concepts such as recirculating batch Drying, springtime Grass Harrowing, Subsoiler Seeding of oilseed rape and latterly band application of liquid nitrogen at rape establishment to the UK.
Knowledge of Grassland and Arable Farming agronomy has also been a focus for OPICO over recent years in order to improve how the machines work and give more benefits to customers. Work with Masstock and Openfield on Oilseed Rape, and Limagrain, Growhow, UPL and ACT on the grassland side has allowed OPICO to learn from the collective sharing of knowledge.
OPICO have also launched of the range of Sky-Agriculture grain drills.
Sky Agriculture is the result of a meeting of minds between farmers and machinery manufacturers. It was established as a new brand and launched at SIMA show in 2013. In a short time, Sky drills have made a huge impact on their home market in France and they are now being introduced into many other countries around the world including the UK.
The reason for the success is, as always, in the detail. The manufacturing of Sky products is done by Sulky at its 3 factories, which employ state of the art manufacturing and painting facilities and of course expertise, knowhow and experience in agricultural machinery. The detailed quality control employed in the factories and superb finish of the product can be seen at a glance.
This expertise, knowledge and experience also extends into the field.
Sky's founder and managing director, David Guy is a farmer and an agricultural engineer & used his own farm to experiment and develop the machines the company markets today.
The drills have each been designed and specified to meet the economic and agronomic challenges facing today's farmers and provide a practical solution for the customer.
The Sky team in France and the UK has been set up to provide top end, specialised technical support combined with a thorough knowledge of the agronomy behind the min-till and direct drilling techniques being employed. With economies of scale driving modern agriculture the drills have high seasonal workloads and we aim to provide unrivalled back up to the customers who invest in Sky products.
